A Look on Diet Fitness

Nowadays, many people are very conscious of their own health and fitness. On top of that, these people, and many others as well, now have the desire to sculpt their bodies to achieve that magazine cover look. As a result, gyms, spas and other fitness centers have proliferated everywhere to cater to the needs of fitness freaks and afficionados.

Even on the exercise machines on TV, weight loss products and other fitness-enhancing accessories have more or less taken over the airwaves and made their way into homes. But exercise isn’t the only way to build that beautiful body. It also means taking some responsibility for the foods you choose to eat. In order to be healthy and fit, one must observe the fitness of diet.

Diet fitness is as essential as exercise itself. Diet for fitness provides the essential nutrition one needs to restore worn out muscles and for healthy growth. Diet fitness should never be taken for granted. With the popularity of fitness maintenance, many diet views, methods, programs and strategies have been formulated by many professionals. These include high carbohydrate diets and high fat diets. Which one is more effective and which one to choose?

The first thing to know would be the fundamental differences between these two dietary approaches. As the name suggests, high carbohydrate diets focus on the consumption of carbohydrate-rich foods, while high fat diets endorse fat-rich foods. High carbohydrate diets are used for glycogen stored in the liver and muscles. Glycogen is a glucose complex that provides large amounts of energy ready for use in anaerobic exercise.

Fat, on the other hand, is known to be the richest source of calories. It actually contains 2.5 times more calories than carbohydrates and protein. Studies also show that it takes the body 24 calories to metabolize carbohydrates while it only takes 3 calories to burn fat. So which one to follow? A person can follow a high-carbohydrate, low-fat fitness diet or vice versa. It is absolutely not advisable to follow both at the same time; unless of course you want to gain body fat.

But then, fitness isn’t just about losing fat, you have to consider your diet as well to keep the fat away. Research shows that lasting weight loss can only be achieved with a diet tailored to individual food preferences, lifestyle, medical profile and satiety signals.

Diet programs can help you lose weight, but only one diet can help you stay sexy, and that is the one that satisfies you the most. Other important aspects of a balanced diet are moderation, balance and variation. Care must be taken not to leave out important nutrients and other substances necessary for healthy body function. Health organizations are clear on the amounts of nutrients an individual should have in the body.

Low fat high carb, high carb low fat; the question is not which diet program will work, but which one will work for you. Striving to have a sexy and healthy body doesn’t have to be a burden to an individual, fitness doesn’t have to mean sticking to the same type of food for life. One can even try to be adventurous and try new foods out there. Who knows… one may even discover interesting spinach.
